Dr. Carter has over twenty-eight years with Penn State. In her
current position, she concentrates on developing resources to support
excellence in teaching and learning. Some facets of this work entail
enriching student learning experiences, investigating best
teaching/learning practices, researching educational innovations, and
sustaining partnerships with other academic units. She serves on the
Commission for Adult Learners and chaired the 2007 Hendrick Best
Practices for Adult Learners Conference.
Dr. Carter teaches both
traditional and on-line graduate and undergraduate courses. She
maintains an interest in blended and on-line course modalities and
serves as a Peer Course Reviewer and Team Chair for the Quality Matters project – a national program that focuses on assuring on-line course quality.
Dr.
Carter holds a Master’s and Doctorate of Education in Adult Education
from Penn State and a Bachelor of Music in Musicology from Indiana
University (Bloomington). Many of her publications focus on
socio-cultural practices surrounding work, particularly how core values
of organizations and interests of employees are conceived and
negotiated in workplace learning settings.
