Regional Colloquy Grants

We are pleased to announce the call for spring 2012 Regional Colloquy proposals. We invite proposals from Penn State colleges and campuses seeking support for regional teaching and learning events. All Regional Colloquies must involve faculty members from two or more campuses. We will support two events, one for campuses in the east and one for campuses in the west (please limit proposals to one per campus).

Regional Colloquies provide faculty the opportunity and forum for:

  • learning from others' successes
  • sharing teaching and assessment strategies
  • networking with colleagues from other locations

This year the focus is on shared- or multi-campus programs. We are seeking proposals for events designed to improve the success of faculty who teach in programs offered at more than one campus. In addition, proposals will be more competitive if they include some programming related to learning outcomes assessment.

If you would like to discuss your ideas before submitting a proposal, please contact your Institute Instructional Consultant Liaison.

Proposal Process

The prposal process is easy. Our online form asks the host campus to:

  • provide a brief description of the event
  • identify the collaborating/partner campus(es)
  • provide a brief budget for the event
Note: The online form is not designed for you to save your work. You may want to compose the proposal in your preferred software, and then paste it into the online form.

Deadline

November 21, 2011 for funding in spring 2012.

Funding

Award amounts will vary depending on the type and scope of the event, planned activities, and campus faculty involvement; however, the maximum award amount is $3,500. While matching funds are not required, they do demonstrate the host and partner campus(es)' commitment to instructional development.

The Schreyer Institute will support your event in the following ways:

  • advertise your event in the Institute's newsletter and post it on our events calendar
  • assist with registration through the Institute's registration system
  • post expected attendance on the Institute's Web site
  • collect feedback through our automated event feedback system

Feedback from previous Colloquy attendees:

  • Great opportunity to interact with colleagues
  • Learned from hearing real stories and sharing of best practices
  • Validated that what I'm doing is part of best practices
