In this workshop, 3 evidence-based strategies for teaching and learning and the research behind them will be presented: 1) spaced practice, 2) dual coding (combining words & visuals), and 3) retrieval practice (bringing information to mind). Participants will try out each strategy using an activity that they can later use with students, and, in groups, they will discuss the practical challenges to using the strategies and brainstorm solutions to those challenges.
Part One of “Reframing Testing as a Learning Experience” seminar. Faculty may register for and attend either one or both sessions. Part 2 will be offered on September 21.
This session will be repeated in person on October 3 in 315 Rider Building, University Park.
