Candidate Selection Process

A brief explanation of the process is listed below. Full details, including the specific dates, are available at Timetable for Selection.

  1. Candidate Identification (from nominations) – Nominations are sent to campus and college administrators. Using the eligibility criteria each college and campus determines which nominees will become candidates. Units do not select candidates for a particular award and are considered based on their eligibility.

  2. Candidate Packet Preparation – Candidate's academic unit prepares an information packet and submits for review.

  3. Candidate Packet Review – The packets are reviewed by a committee of peers, including fellow faculty and Administrators from across the university as well as students using the review criteria.

  4. Final Selection – The review committees prepare a rank-ordered list of preferred candidates to the president for the final decisions.
