Candidate Selection Process

A brief explanation of the process is listed below. Full details, including specific dates, are available at Timetable for Selection.

  1. Candidate Identification – Candidate nominations are sent to campuses and colleges. While any candidate needs to meet basic eligibility criteria, they should be selected based on their teaching; candidates should not be selected based on whether they meet the additional criteria for any one award. If a candidate meets any of the additional awards critera, they are considered for that award.

  2. Candidate Packet Preparation – Candidate's academic unit, in collaboration with the faculty member, prepares a Candidate Packet by following the Packet Guidelinesand submits it for review. Units are responsible for making sure formatting and page limits are followed.

  3. Candidate Packet Evaluation – Candidate packets are reviewed by a committee of faculty and students from across the university using an evaluation rubric.

  4. Final Selection – The review committee prepares a rank-ordered list of recommended candidates, which is sent to the president for final selection.
